Club Coach Lewis - Season 2019/20
Lewis Campbell joined us on 10th September 2019. Unfortunately, Lewis was unable to carry on coaching HJBC after lockdown due to other committments.
He was looking forward to coaching the club and commented that it would be an honour to carry on the work that Mike and Ross have started as Mike used to be his coach when he first started playing competitively!
Lewis is currently an equivalent Level One + Badminton coach and is planning on working towards UKCC level 2 in the next academic year. He coaches the East Lothian Gold development squads and has been spotted playing in the East Lothian Badminton Association (ELBA) tournaments.

A fond farewell was said to outgoing coach Ross Parkin at the end of season 2018/19.
He was with us since August 2017, taking over the training at HJBC from Mike when the new season started. He's a UKCC Level One Advanced Badminton coach with a Sports and Exercise Science degree from Napier University.
Accepting a different working pattern at Gannon Sports in Gullane and North Berwick, he could no longer committ to coaching HJBC. Having won many regional / national competitions and captained the Preston Lodge senior team to Scottish Schools glory in 2010, Ross is keen to develop and promote the next generation of county stars.
Ross has been involved in coaching for around 8+ years now and also coaches the East Lothian Bronze squads at Knox Academy. He is a highly motivated individual with a massive desire for success.
Our new coach was 24 years old when he joined us and he believes that success is getting a group of kids to play together, as a team, play hard, and reach their ultimate potential while having fun. This is his coaching philosophy, so we hope you are ready for him kids!
We would like to say a fond farewell to Mike Mitchell who will be retiring from coaching at the end of April 2017.
Mike is a UKCC level 2 badminton coach and former gym teacher at The Steiner School, Edinburgh. He believes badminton can be a part of your life that can develop you over a lifetime. Committing 6 years of coaching at HJBC and the Bronze invitation squads at Knox Academy, he also spent 11 years coaching at North Berwick. As well as the hundreds of children he has coached through the clubs, he is proud to say that he [currently] has 2 Scotland number ones, 2 number twos and one Scotland cap that have had their start with him. There are many other ranked players who started their badminton journey with him. Parting words from Mike: "I think Ross who is taking over will move the club on to the next level. Best wishes to him and to the supportive committee past and present." |
